Volbeat is a Danish rock band formed in Copenhagen in 2001. Their sound fuses elements of early rock 'n' roll, heavy metal and rockabilly, drawing influences from legends like Metallica, Social Distortion, Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. The band consists of vocalist and guitarist Michael Poulsen, guitarist Thomas Bredahl, bassist Anders Kjolholm and drummer Jon Larsen. Volbeat is signed to Dutch label Mascot Records and has released three studio albums and a DVD. All their studio albums have been certified gold in Denmark, while their second album, *Rock the Rebel/Metal the Devil*, achieved platinum status. According to Poulsen's stage banter at Ruisrock 2009, Volbeat has sold certified gold records in two countries: Denmark and Finland. The band's name is taken from the album *Vol. Beat* by Michael Poulsen's former band Dominus.
