James Ingram (February 16, 1956) is an American soul musician and vocalist. Known for his powerful and versatile voice, Ingram is also a self-taught multi-instrumentalist who plays piano, guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards. Besides singing, he has worked as a producer and songwriter. He achieved international success in the 1980s with songs like "Yah Mo B There" (with Michael McDonald) and "I Don't Want to Lose Your Love". Ingram has been nominated for numerous Grammy Awards and won an Oscar in 1986 for the song "I Just Called to Say I Love You", featured in the soundtrack of the film "The Color Purple". Some of his most important albums include "It's Your Night" (1983) and "James Ingram" (1986).
