Carpathian Forest is a Norwegian black metal band formed in 1990 by Nattefrost and Nordavind. Considered one of the pioneers of the genre, they helped define the aesthetics and sound of Norwegian black metal in the 1990s. Their sound is characterized by fast and aggressive rhythms, distorted guitar riffs, and dark and satanic lyrics. Among their most representative songs are "Blood Must Be Paid", "The Serpent's Tongue" and "In the Shadow of the Black Forest". The album "Through Forests Dark and Deep" (1993) is considered a classic of the genre.
