Scott Richard Weiland (born Scott Richard Kline, October 27, 1967 – December 3, 2015) was an American singer and musician. Known for his powerful and distinctive vocal style, Weiland rose to international fame as the frontman of Stone Temple Pilots, a rock band active from 1989 to 2013. With the STP, he won two Grammy Awards and helped define the hard rock sound of the 1990s with successful albums like *Core* (1992) and *Purple* (1994). In 2002, after the breakup of Stone Temple Pilots, Weiland formed the supergroup Velvet Revolver with former Guns N' Roses members. With Velvet Revolver, he released their debut album *Contraband* (2004), which topped the American charts. After a period of hiatus and several solo projects, Weiland founded Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts in 2013, releasing the album *Blaster* in 2015. Among Weiland's most representative songs are "Plush", "Interstate Love Song", "Vasoline" and "Slither". His career was marked by highs and lows, between commercial successes and personal struggles. Scott Weiland died on December 3, 2015, at the age of 48.
