Donald Jay Fagen (born January 10, 1948) is an American singer-songwriter, composer, and record producer. Known for his distinctive vocal style and intricate musical compositions, Fagen is primarily recognized as the co-founder and main member of Steely Dan, a rock progressive/jazz fusion band active from 1971 to 1981 and sporadically thereafter. Fagen collaborated with Walter Becker to write most of Steely Dan's songs, characterized by complex arrangements, sophisticated lyrics, and a prominent jazz influence. Following the band's dissolution, Fagen embarked on a successful solo career, releasing acclaimed albums such as "The Nightfly" (1982) and "Kamakiriad" (1993).
