The Divine Comedy is a British musical project founded in 1990 by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Neil Hannon. Hannon, known for his distinctive vocal style and intricate melodies, has created a unique musical universe that blends elements of pop, classical music, vaudeville, and cabaret. His work is characterized by sophisticated and ironic lyrics, often inspired by English literature and popular culture. The Divine Comedy has released ten studio albums, including "Fanfare for the Comic Muse" (1996), considered a classic of the indie pop genre, and "Victory for the Comic Muse" (2001). Among his most well-known songs are "National Express", "Something for the Weekend", and "The Absent Lover". Hannon is also known for his collaborations with other artists, including British singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
