Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez, known professionally as Juanes (Medellín, August 9, 1972), is a Colombian singer and guitarist widely regarded as one of the most influential Latin American musicians of all time. He began his musical career at age 15 with the metal band Ekhymosis, which released five albums over twelve years. In 1999, Juanes embarked on a successful solo career, shortening his name to Juanes. Throughout his career, Juanes has collaborated with internationally renowned artists such as Shakira, Bono, and Sting. He is known for his social activism and promotion of peace through music.
