Exhumed è una band di death metal americana proveniente da San Jose, California. Fondata nel 1990 dal quindicenne Matt Harvey, l'unico membro rimasto dall'epoca della formazione originale, la band ha trascorso gran parte del decennio successivo a registrare demo, split CD ed EP. Il loro album d'esordio, "Gore Metal", uscito nel 1998, è stato un punto di svolta per il genere, definendo una fusione tra death metal old-school e grindcore che era già emersa durante le registrazioni del loro ultimo demo ("Horrific Expulsion of Gore") e del primo split CD ("In the Name of Gore").
