Elis Regina Carvalho Costa, known simply as Elis Regina (1945-1982), was one of the most important and influential Brazilian singers of all time. Born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, Elis began her musical career at the age of 16, winning a local singing contest. Throughout the 1960s, she established herself as an artist of great talent, performing with passion and intensity songs from the traditional Brazilian repertoire, bossa nova and samba. Her powerful and versatile voice allowed her to tackle various musical genres, from jazz to rock, demonstrating extraordinary adaptability and innovation. Elis Regina collaborated with some of the greatest Brazilian composers, including Tom Jobim, Chico Buarque and Caetano Veloso. Among her most important albums are "Falso Brilhante" (1973), "Elis and Tom" (1974) and "Ginga" (1980). Elis Regina was an iconic figure in Brazilian culture, whose music continues to be appreciated and celebrated worldwide. Some of her most representative songs are: "Aquarela do Brasil", "Arrastão", "Ovelha Negra", "Lança Perfume" and "Por Toda Minha Vida".
