I used to think it black while at my country seat
Now I'm peaking in so many ways
the gloom is in retreat
Yes the dark epoch is over I've found my efeblum
Then passed Ernst's mausoleum defended by a rook
Who shot a look so virulent it pierced me like a hook
The palaver of Solipsists exploding in my skull
Yeah and we both despise all of the academic swine
Who made the author of "Discus Ulysses" benign
So what if Wednesday finds us
wearing rabies parachutes
Foaming like the melodies of sea foam fairy flutes
The atmosphere is viscous we're sticking to the brine
When the lanterns fill with finches
so begins the brawl
Cause their brains are like porcupines
and mine's a paper ball
I know they don't understand they don't get us at all
Their moss mangles polyanthus
and mine's a paper ball
Of Montreal is an American musical group formed in 1996 in Athens, Georgia, by visionary Kevin Barnes. The band's name comes from a relationship of Barnes with a girl from Montreal that ended abruptly. Barnes founded the band after leaving his previous group, The Gerbils. Of Montreal is known for its psychedelic and pop sound, characterized by catchy melodies, surreal lyrics, and complex arrangements. The band is closely associated with the Elephant 6 collective, an indie rock movement of the 1990s that gave rise to numerous underground artists. Throughout their career, Of Montreal has released over ten albums, including "Hissing Fauna Are You the Destroyer?" (2007), considered one of their most influential and critically acclaimed works. Other important albums include "Satanic Panic in the Attic" (2005) and "Lousy with Sylvianbriar" (2010). Among Of Montreal's most representative songs are "The Past is a Grotesque Animal", "Heimdalsgate Like a Promethean Curse", "Ghetto Love" and "Wraith Pinned to the Mist and Other Games".
