Biografia

Freddy Fender was an American singer and guitarist of Mexican descent, known for his Tex-Mex music that blended elements of country, rock and roll, and blues. Born Baldemar Huerta in 1937 in San Benito, Texas, Fender began his musical career in the 1950s playing in local bands. In 1960 he achieved his first success with "Before the Next Teardrop Falls", a song that became a Tex-Mex classic and earned him a Grammy Award nomination. Throughout his career, Fender collaborated with artists such as Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson, and was one of the pioneers in bringing Tex-Mex music to a wider audience. Among his most famous songs are also "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights", "The Ballad of the Alamo" and "You'll Lose That Girl". Fender died in 2006 at the age of 69.
