Ooooh, ooh-ooh-ooh ooh
Ooh
Six-foot tall and tan
Southern gentlemen
Dressed impeccably, yeah
Paul, Otis, David, Blue
Eddie and Dennis too
Oh, what a pedigree, yeah
We're soul brothers to the bone (Ooh wee ooo)
And that four-headed microphone
Five-part harmony, yeah (Five-part harmony, oh)
Travellin' all around the world (World)
Stealing hearts and all the girls (My girl)
Every man's envy (Every man's envy)
Yeah (Ooh)
Music is our crown (Ooh)
Nothing like the sound
Of our voices together, yeah (Together)
We're still goin' strong
Sixty years and going on forever (Ah, yeah)
When we were kings (Kings)
We had it going on so strong (Had it going on strong)
When we were kings (Kings)
We had it going on so strong (Had it going on strong)
Yeah, yeah, yeah
We were six feet tall
(That's everyone)
But best of all
(We sang like angels)
When we were kings (Kings)
We had it going on so strong (Had it going on strong)
The temptin' temptations, yeah (Temptin' temptations)
The temptin' temptations, yeah (Temptin' temptations, oh)
(Yeah)
(When we were kings)
(We were kings)
Paul sure had the knack
Told 'em (Don't look back)
He always had the fire, fire
Eddie's voice could soothe (Soothe)
He was super smooth
Always takin' us higher, higher
There was so much goin' out late
Otis would keep us straight
While Melvin was so strong (Yeah)
Ooh, David wished it would rain (Rain)
Dennis sang about pain (Oh)
Papa was a rollin' stone, yeah (Papa was a rollin' stone)
Music is our crown (Ooh)
Nothing like the sound
Of our voices together, yeah (Together)
We're still goin' strong (Ooh)
Sixty years and goin' on forever (Ah, yeah)
When we were kings (Kings)
We had it going on so strong (Had it going on strong)
When we were kings (Kings)
We had it going on so strong (Had it going on strong)
Yeah, yeah, yeah
We were six feet tall
(That's everyone)
But best of all
(We sang like angels) Oh yeah
When we were kings (Kings)
We had it going on so strong (Ooh, had it going on strong)
The temptin' temptations, yeah (Temptin' temptations)
The temptin' temptations, yeah (Temptin' temptations, oh)
The temptin' temptations (Temptin', temptin', temptin') (Temptin' temptations, yeah)
This is a tribute to the greatest of all time (Yeah)
(When we were kings) When we were kings
(When we were kings) All around the world, yeah
(When we were kings) Detroit's finest
(We were kings)
(Kings)
When we were kings
The lyrics WHEN WE WERE KINGS of THE TEMPTATIONS is also present in the album Temptations 60 (2022)
Tra i brani più celebri dei Temptations figurano "My Girl", "Ain't Too Proud to Beg", "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)" e "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone".
