Lordi are a Finnish heavy metal band formed in 1996 in Rovaniemi. Known for the horror-themed theatricality that characterizes the group's image and lyrics, the name derives from the nickname of singer Tomi Putaansuu, known as Mr. Lordi. Each member wears a monster mask and a pseudonym, making it impossible to see them without their stage costumes.
