Celtic Frost was a Swiss heavy metal band from Zurich. Considered pioneers of extreme metal, particularly black metal, they heavily influenced the underground music scene of the 1980s and 1990s. Celtic Frost's musical influences are diverse: Black Sabbath, Angel Witch, and Venom contributed to their heavy metal sound, while Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Christian Death introduced gothic rock elements.
