(Muddy Waters)
Had a sweet little girl, i lose my baby, boy ain't that bad
Had a sweet little girl, i lose my baby, boy ain't that bad
You can't spend what you ain't got,
You can't lose some little girl you ain't never had
Had money in the bank, i got busted, people ain't that bad
Had money in the bank, i got busted, people ain't that bad
You can't spend what you ain't got,
You can't lose some little girl you ain't never had
Ain't that the truth boys
[Instrumental]
Had money in the bank, i got busted, people ain't that bad
Had money in the bank, i got busted, people ain't that bad
You can't spend what you ain't got,
You can't lose some little girl you ain't never had
Had a sweet little home, it got burned down, people ain't that bad
My own fault, people ain't that bad
Well you know you can't spend what you ain't got,
You can't lose some blues you ain't never had
[Instrumental]
Have mercy!
Sweet little home, got burned down, people ain't that bad
Yeah you know i had a sweet little home, it got burned down, people ain't that bad
Whoa you know you can't spend what you ain't got,
You can't lose some little girl you ain't never had
Mark Levon Helm (1940-2012) was an American musician, singer, and actor known internationally for his work as the drummer and lead vocalist of the legendary Canadian rock group The Band. Helm helped shape the sound of folk-rock in the 1960s and 1970s. Born in Arkansas, Helm began his musical career playing with various local bands before joining Bob Dylan in 1965 as a drummer for his world tour. In 1968, Helm founded The Band with other talented musicians, including Robbie Robertson and Rick Danko. The group achieved international fame with their debut album of 1969, *Music from Big Pink*, considered a masterpiece of folk-rock. Helm was known for his powerful and raspy vocal style, which gave The Band's songs a unique emotional charge. Among the group's most celebrated hits are *The Weight*, *Up on Cripple Creek*, and *The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down*. After The Band disbanded in 1976, Helm continued his musical career as a solo artist, releasing several successful albums.
