The Angry Samoans are an American punk rock band belonging to the first wave of American punk. Formed in August 1978 in Los Angeles, California, by "Metal" Mike Saunders, a rock writer from the early 1970s, and his brother Kevin Eric Saunders, lead guitarist, along with Gregg Turner (another rock writer for Creem Magazine during the late 1970s-mid 1980s), Todd Homer on bass and Billy Vockeroth on drums. The band is known for their raw and aggressive sound, influenced by proto-punk and glam rock. They released several albums and EPs in the 1980s, including "The Angry Samoans" (1980) and "Live at the Whisky a Go Go" (1982). Although they did not achieve mainstream fame, The Angry Samoans are considered an influential band in the American punk rock scene. Some of their most representative songs include "I'm So Bored", "The Ballad of Johnny Rotten" and "Teenage Wasteland".
