Jey is the stage name of Jennifer Turri, a soprano from Faenza born in 1998. After her training at the Rossini Conservatory of Pesaro (PU), where she graduated with honors in Lyric Singing, she specialized at the Accademia Lirica di Osimo (AN). She has sung in the choirs of the Rossini Opera Festival, the Teatro della Fortuna di Fano, the Teatro Ventidio Basso di Ascoli Piceno and the Coro Cherubini, conducted by Maestro Riccardo Muti. She has deepened her technique with masterclasses of renown, including one with tenor José Carreras, and in 2021 she received the prestigious Premio Maria Callas at the Arena di Verona for her vocal talent demonstrated in the Italian lyrical panorama. Parallel to lyric singing, Jey nourishes a passion for rap music and urban and black sounds. She has already entered the world of Hip-Hop by participating in events and collaborating with established artists. Her style is a duality that crosses every aspect: from incisive rhymes to suggestive vocal lines, alternating with texts that ride the rhythms of rap. The single "Echi d'ombra" tells a reality where man gets lost between appearance, violence and emptiness. The fusion between rap and lyric amplifies this contrast: on one hand the raw denunciation of reality, on the other a more elevated dimension, almost spiritual, that tries to give meaning to pain. The portrait of a divided humanity emerges, suspended between light and darkness, where even when everything seems to extinguish itself there remains a deep awareness of one's own nature: "But without love we are dead". The cover designed by the artist Leon Ant also reflects this play of chiaroscuro: a girl crosses a forest populated by damned spirits and emerges irremediably transformed. The single is accompanied by a video clip directed by Davide Matterazzo, built on an essential and symbolic space: a white background that becomes a meeting point between light and shadow. The images do not follow a linear narrative, but move like an inner flow, returning the state of mind of someone who constantly lives on the edge of what is and what they fear becoming. "Echi d'ombra" anticipates Jey's first EP, coming out on May 22nd: a crossover project that mixes lyricism, rap, rock, urban pop, trap and reggaeton, of which this single represents only a first, significant prelude.
