
I Taverna Umberto I° sono un duo musicale siciliano composto dai fratelli Giuseppe e Gianfilippo Santangelo. Il nome del gruppo è un omaggio a una storica taverna di Piazza Armerina, la loro città natale, simbolo di semplicità, genuinità e valori autentici. La loro musica, caratterizzata da testi autobiografici e melodie evocative, racconta storie di vita quotidiana, amore, ricordi e riflessioni sulla società. Il loro primo album in studio, "Parole dal Sud" (2008), ha segnato l'inizio del loro percorso musicale, con brani come "Terra Mia" e "La Strada" che hanno conquistato il pubblico. Nel corso degli anni, i Taverna Umberto I° si sono esibiti in numerosi locali, festival e teatri, consolidando la propria presenza nel panorama musicale italiano. Nel 2019 è uscito l'album "Passo dopo Passo", un lavoro maturo che riflette la crescita personale dei fratelli. Nel 2021 hanno vinto il premio "Canzone a Tema" al Premio Via Emilia - La Strada dei Cantautori con il brano "Passo la Via Emilia". Hanno collaborato con importanti artisti come Guido Guglielminetti (produttore di Francesco De Gregori) e il Coro Lirico Siciliano, arricchendo il loro sound con influenze diverse. Nel 2022 sono stati finalisti al Premio Pierangelo Bertoli, condividendo il palco con grandi nomi della musica italiana.
