Leonard Norman Eliezer Cohen (Montreal, September 21, 1934 – Los Angeles, November 7, 2016) was a Canadian singer-songwriter, poet, novelist, and composer of Jewish origin. Considered one of the most influential singer-songwriters of the 20th century, Cohen achieved international fame for his musical style characterized by melancholic melodies and poetic lyrics that explored themes such as religion, love, loss, and spirituality.
