pe' suoi ricci neri e belli:
stava sempre fra i monelli,

Scalza, lacera, una sera,

- Dammi un soldo... ho tanta fame...
- Ci hai la mamma? - Non ce l'ho.

E lei triste... non lo so.
Provai una stretta al cuore, e, quella sera
la mia casetta accolse ?Capinera?.
E lei cantava... cantava giuliva
di trilli e gridi la casa m'empiva...
ed un bel sogno nel cuor carezzavo.
la contemplavo...
forse... l'amavo.
Tredici anni lei compiva:
s'era fatta pensierosa.
- Pensi forse a qualche cosa?
che ti manca? Non lo so.
