Accuse di "teppismo e istigazione all'odio religioso" hanno portato a un processo breve e mediatico, con la sentenza che le ha condannate a due anni di reclusione. Il caso ha suscitato attenzione internazionale per le accuse di trattamenti brutali durante la custodia e la minaccia di pene severe contro il dissenso in Russia. La performance è stata contestata da una parte della società russa come offesa alla sensibilità religiosa e alle tradizioni, con l'intervento pubblico del patriarca Cirillo I che ha condannato il gesto blasfemo.
