Box Car Racer was an American alternative rock band from San Diego, California, formed in 2001. The band was essentially a side project of guitarist Tom DeLonge of Blink-182, composed of lead guitarist David Kennedy of Hazen Street, touring bassist Anthony Celestino, and Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker. Driven by a darker and more mature sound than previous Blink-182 recordings, DeLonge was the primary lyricist of the group and created the group to experiment with ideas that were not "Blink-friendly". Their self-titled album, released in 2002, received critical acclaim. Notable tracks include "The Takeover", "Box Car Racer" and "I Feel So".
