Knife 49 are a historic Milanese street punk band active since the second decade of the '90s. Founded by Franco "Il Presidente" Gatto (ex Dogo Gang), vocalist and composer, and Luca "Doobie" Adami, electric guitar and backing vocals, the band has gone through several lineups while maintaining a unique and recognizable musical identity. After an initial success in the '90s, Knife 49 resurfaced in 2006 thanks to the music video of "La Luna", featuring Marracash in a fusion of street punk, rap and hip hop. This success led the band to perform worldwide, opening for punk legends like The Adicts, Exploited and Warriors. Knife 49 are known for their gritty sound, raw and direct lyrics, and powerful driving melodies. The first two albums featured a predominance of English-language tracks, while from the middle of the second album Italian became central. The fourth album, "Il peggio di noi", highlights a compositional maturity and attention to the themes addressed. In 2021, Knife 49 participated in Sanremo Rock, becoming the first street punk band to perform on the Ariston stage. Representative tracks include: "La Luna", "Il peggio di noi", "Senza paura".
