Scott Richard Weiland (born Scott Richard Kline, October 27, 1967 – December 3, 2015) was an American singer and musician. Known for his powerful and distinctive vocal style, Weiland rose to international fame as the frontman of Stone Temple Pilots, a rock band active from 1989 to 2013. With the STP, he won two Grammy Awards and helped define the hard rock sound of the 1990s with successful albums like *Core* (1992) and *Purple* (1994). In 2002, after the breakup of Stone Temple Pilots, Weiland formed the supergroup Velvet Revolver with former Guns N' Roses members.
