Poncho's lament

Well the stairs sound so lonely without you
And I ain't maid my bed in a week
Coffee stains on the paper I'm writing
And I'm too choked up inside to speak
And Yes, I know our differences pulled us apart
Never spoke a word heart to heart
And I'm glad that you're gone
But I wish to the lord that you'd come home
And I'm glad that you're gone
Got the feeling so strong
And I'm glad that you're gone
But I wish to the lord that you'd come home
Well my guitar still plays your favorite song
though the strings have been outta tune for some time
Every time I strum a cord, I pray out to the lord
That you'll quit your honkey tonkin' sing my song
And I'm glad that you're gone
Got the feeling so strong
And I'm glad that you're gone
But I wish to the lord that you'd come home
So I'll throw another log onto the fire
And I'll admit I'm a lousy liar
As the coals die down and flicker
I hear that guitar picker
Play the song we used to sing so long ago
I'm glad that you're gone
Got the feeling so strong
And I'm glad that you're gone
But I wish to the lord that you'd come home
And I'm glad, damn glad you're gone
Got the feeling so strong
And I'm glad that you're gone
But I wish to the lord that you'd come home

Thank you because you correct this lyrics

Biografia

Tom Waits (born Thomas Alan Waits on December 7, 1949) is an American singer-songwriter, musician, and actor widely considered one of the most influential artists in contemporary music. Known for his gravelly, inimitable voice, theatrical performances, and songs characterized by dark and surreal atmospheres, Waits has traversed various musical phases, from blues to jazz, through experimental rock and avant-garde. His musical career began in the 1960s with the formation of groups like The Tom Waits Band and later as a solo artist. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, he achieved growing success thanks to albums such as "Closing Time" (1973), "Heartattack and Vine" (1981) and "Rain Dogs" (1985). In subsequent years, Waits also dedicated himself to acting, appearing in films by directors like Wim Wenders and Francis Ford Coppola. Among his most representative songs are "Tom Traubert's Blues", "I Hope That I Don't Fall in Love with You", "Hold On" and "Martha”. Waits has been awarded numerous prizes, including the Grammy Award for Lifetime Achievement.
