Christopher Anton Rea, known as Chris Rea, was a British singer, guitarist, and pianist born in Middlesbrough in 1951. Rea achieved international fame in the 1980s with a blues-rock sound characterized by catchy melodies and introspective lyrics. Among his most famous songs are "Fool" (1978), "Let It Loose" and "I Can Hear Your Heartbeat, I Don't Know What It Is But I Love It" (1984), "Josephine" (1985), "On the Beach" (1986), "Driving Home for Christmas" (1988) and "The Road to Hell" (1989). Rea released over 20 albums in his career, achieving great success also with the remix version of "Josephine" in 1987. His music is often associated with melancholic and nostalgic atmospheres, evoking rural landscapes and solitary journeys. Rea was appreciated for his musical skills and his ability to write lyrics that resonate with a wide audience.
