I Joy Division sono stati un gruppo musicale post-punk britannico formatosi nel 1977 a Salford, nella contea della Grande Manchester. La formazione originale comprendeva Ian Curtis (voce), Bernard Sumner (chitarra), Peter Hook (basso) e Stephen Morris (batteria). Considerati uno dei gruppi più influenti del movimento post-punk, i Joy Division hanno caratterizzato il loro sound con atmosfere cupe, testi introspettivi e un'intensa musicalità. Curtis, noto per le sue performance teatrali e la sua scrittura poetica, affrontava temi come la depressione, l'alienazione e la disillusione sociale.
