Matmatah are a French alternative rock band active from 1994 to 2008. The band's name comes from Matmata, a Tunisian village where singer and guitarist Stan Had lived during his childhood. Their music is characterized by folk, psychedelic and rock sounds, with often introspective and poetic lyrics that explore themes such as loneliness, identity search and social criticism. Among their most famous songs are «Le Chant des Oiseaux», «La Vie en Rose» and «L'Homme à la Lune». Matmatah released five studio albums: «Matmatah» (1996), «Les Enfants du Soleil» (1998), «Le Grand Voyage» (2001), «L'Éveil des Animaux» (2004) and «La Fin du Monde» (2007).
