Sarcófago was a Brazilian extreme metal band active from 1985 to 2000. Founded in São Paulo by Wagner Lamounier (vocals) and Geraldo Minelli (guitar), the band made a significant contribution to the Brazilian metal scene, while remaining controversial for its aggressive sound and provocative lyrics. Lamounier, also known for being the first vocalist of Sepultura, gave voice to a raw and powerful sound that influenced numerous bands in the genre. Among Sarcófago's most representative songs are "The Evil Has Come", "Satanic Lust" and "I Am the Beast". The album "Rotting Flesh" (1987) is considered a classic of Brazilian thrash metal, with its dark atmosphere and brutal performances. The band ceased activity in 2000, leaving a significant legacy in the history of extreme metal.
