Killswitch Engage sono un gruppo metalcore formatosi a Westfield, Massachusetts, nel 1999. La band nacque dalle ceneri di Overcast e Aftershock, con Jesse Leach alla voce, Mike D'Antonio al basso, Joel Stroetzel e Adam Dutkiewicz alle chitarre e Justin Foley alla batteria. Il loro sound, caratterizzato da riff pesanti, melodie orecchiabili e testi introspettivi, li ha rapidamente catapultati nel panorama metalcore internazionale. Dopo un periodo di successo negli anni 2000 con album come "Alive or Just Breathing" (2002) e "The End of Heartache" (2004), la band ha attraversato una fase di cambiamenti con l'abbandono di Leach nel 2002.
