Luigi Libra nasce a Posillipo (Napoli) nel 1976. Debutta nel mondo della musica a 15 anni con la band da lui fondata "I sotto la pioggia". Nel 1996 partecipa al Festival dei nuovi musicisti emergenti italiani organizzato dalla CGD Music e Company e si aggiudica il Premio rivelazione con il brano "Amore Maledetto". Nel 1999 partecipa alla II edizione del Festival di Napoli (Rete 4) con la canzone "Piccerella" classificatasi tra le migliori posizioni della rassegna. L'anno successivo, nella stessa manifestazione, presenta "Succedera'" e "Battiti nel cuore" interpretata al festival da Sabrina Canzano. Apprezzato da Paolo Limiti, entra a far parte nello stesso anno come ospite fisso del programma di Rai1 "Ci vediamo in tv", dove interpreta canzoni del repertorio classico napoletano. Nel 2001 in collaborazione con Limiti, realizza il brano "Ddoje Parole" che presentato alla VI edizione del Festival di Napoli si aggiudica il Premio della critica. La canzone diventa poi sigla di chiusura del programma "Ci vediamo in tv", singolo di grande successo portato in tour per l'Italia. Nel 2003 viene premiato al Festival delle Terme di Rapolano nell'ambito della rassegna "Quando le rose appassiscono" di Guido Bocci. Nello stesso anno viene riconfermato nel cast del programma "Paolo Limiti Show" (Rai2), dedicato alla musica leggera internazionale e al cinema hollywoodiano degli anni 50-60. Nel 2005 è tra gli artisti che ricevono il Premio Fuorigrotta e, l'anno successivo, in collaborazione con Luciano Liguori e Gianfranco Caliendo del Giardino dei Semplici, realizza l'album "Ddoje Parole tra Napoli e Marechiaro" edito dalla storica etichetta discografica La Canzonetta Records. Il cd racchiude 13 brani classici della cultura partenopea e 7 inediti che vedono l'artista in veste sia di autore, che compositore. Il singolo estratto dall'album è "Voglio turnà a Marechiaro" in duetto con Tiziana Rivale. Nel 2007 partecipa a La Piedigrotta con il nuovo singolo "Cammina", un brano dall'atmosfera R'n'b-Etno-Popolare. L'anno successivo incide con Peppino di Capri "Amare di Meno" (di P. Limiti-U. Balsamo). Il singolo accompagnato da altri 2 brani, è prodotto da Splash e distribuito da Lucky Planets. Nel 2010 esce il nuovo lavoro discografico "Amarsi un po'", un E.P. di 5 brani prodotto da Sergio Ferraiulo per la Dop Agency su etichetta Universo Multimedia. Nello stesso anno, è ospite in prima serata su Rai2 nello speciale "Minissima 2010" condotto da Paolo Limiti. Nel 2012 esce "Luigi Libra Napoli Duets" che lo vede duettare, tra gli altri, con Albano, Peppino Di Capri, Tullio De Piscopo, Audio2. Il cd è un viaggio musicale alla riscoperta con nuovi arrangiamenti dei più grandi successi internazionali della canzone classica napoletana. Il lavoro comprende anche 5 brani inediti, sempre in lingua, di cui Libra è autore e compositore in questo percorso emerge il suono black and soul dell'artista. Il cd è prodotto dalla casa editrice La Canzonetta. Il 2012 segna il ritorno di Luigi Libra in tv nel cast della nuova trasmissione di Paolo Limiti "E-state con noi in tv" su Rai1. Nell'ambito del Premio Fabula viene premiato per il cd celebrativo del centenario della nascita de La Canzonetta e nell'ambito del Premio speciale Mia Martini riceve un riconoscimento in quanto "Voce nuova della canzone napoletana". Nel cd "Napoli Duets", tra classici e canzoni inedite, mette in luce quella "passione napoletana" autentica che colpisce dritto al cuore. Nel 2015 esce "Luigi Libra Napoli" e "L'incanto Melodico degli anni '50" (Libro/Dvd/Cd Graus Editore). Nel 2016 il sindaco di Napoli Luigi De Magistris, in occasione del concerto tenutosi al Teatro Mediterraneo di Napoli "Luigi Libra, Napoli e L'Incanto Melodico degli anni '50", conferisce al cantautore la nomina di Ambasciatore della Canzone Napoletana nel Mondo. Dopo molti anni dedicati alla canzone classica napoletana, nel 2018, Luigi Libra lancia "Terra Viva" omaggio alla vitalità della Campania, di Napoli e della sua gente in un album di 12 brani inediti che raccontano la terra d'origine del cantautore con il suono e il groove che rappresentano le sue radici musicali. Nel 2019 arriva "Progetto Terra Viva", il docufilm che lo vede protagonista, oltre ad un libro e la riedizione dell'album con 12 brani di cui 6 del precedente e 6 nuovi che sono poi la colonna sonora del docufilm. Il 23 settembre 2022 esce "Spettri" nuovo singolo inedito.
